PCB design has been identified as one of the main bottlenecks
for fast conversion of ideas into products. Recognizing this, ER&DCI(T)
has set up a sophisticated PCB-CAD facility, which enables the design, documentation
and full production information for PCBs to be generated quickly.
The PCB-CAD activity is based on SUN workstation-based
CADENCE PCB Design tools used by well trained and highly experienced draughtsmen,
enabling design of complex PCBs with upto 64 layers. Sophisticated Autorouters
for component placement and routing and post-processors for back-annotation,
drill plots, parts lists and other manufacturing documentation enable
fast PCB design turnarounds and lower prototyping costs.
A FLASHSCAN photoplotter directly generates the films from the
computer-generated artwork. The Centre designs around 150 PCBs every year
for the project groups and for third-party customers.
